Something New from Something Old

There are some unusual pieces in the store that we often get asked about. One of these is insulators. Anyone born after 1965 would never have seen them where they were actually used- on a telephone pole. Since that year, new technology has made them obsolete. However, with their undulating curves we think they are pretty! They come in clear glass, porcelain,( we’ve seen them in white, blue grey, pale green) and blue glass. Jello Molds

I’m sure if you are a Downton Abbey fan, you have seen jello molds. Jello molds have been used in kitchens long before Mrs. Patmore and Daisy were making meals. They come in both ceramic, glass, and copper and during the 1950’s and 60’s aluminum was all the rage. My grandmother made many a jello salad. I don’t use them for jello very often, but I love the way they look, especially the ceramic and glass ones.
